The Stanley Works, has initially deployed the iPass Mobile Office
July 2007

iPass, Inc. a global provider of services that unify the management of enterprise mobility, announced that The Stanley Works, has initially deployed the iPass Mobile Office service to provide remote connectivity to more than 3,000 of its remote and mobile workers around the world. The Stanley Works, an S&P 500 company, is a diversified worldwide supplier of tools and engineered solutions for professional, industrial, construction and do-it-yourself use, and security solutions for commercial applications.

The company employs approximately 20,000 people and, in 2006, had worldwide sales of $4.0 billion. iPass provides The Stanley Works mobile employees—including workers from its global sales force, HR, and other divisions—with simple and secure global access over Wi-Fi hotspots, hotel Ethernet, and dial-up connections, while enabling the company’s IT department to easily manage their remote and mobile devices. Additionally, iPass’ enterprise flat rate pricing model enables the company to more accurately budget for connectivity costs. Instead of paying by the hour or on a per-subscriber basis, The Stanley Works pays iPass a single monthly amount that covers a total number of active users each month.

"Our largest markets are overseas, in places where connectivity options are limited, and it’s critical that our field workers be able to connect," said Tom Crichton Sr. Manager, General Procurement at The Stanley Works. "With the iPass service, not only are people able to quickly connect and get productive, iPass’ flat monthly fee enabled us to budget for connectivity in a simple and predictable way, limiting our risk of large cost over-runs without having to micro-manage specific user accounts." Through iPass Mobile Office, The Stanley Works employees are given with the iPassConnect™ universal client which enables them to simply connect to network resources from virtually anywhere using multiple access technologies including over 77,000 Wi-Fi hotspot locations, Ethernet in hotel rooms, 3G mobile data, and dial-up access. Across these diverse access methods, Stanley Work’s IT department enjoys centralized, policy-based management and validation of endpoint and network security measures.
