As EMV and other initiatives start to reduce levels of payment card crime, ATMs are coming under ever greater pressure from the criminal community. Ram raids and other physical attacks on ATMs continue to increase, while non-physical forms of attack involving counterfeit cards, skimming and IT/software breaches are also on the rise. ATMs represent a target for organised crime and in the current climate even for terrorist activity.

Banks and independent ATM deployers from across Europe have successfully implemented a range of solutions to minimise these security threats, and industry representatives are convening in London to share their experiences at the Sec 7 ATM Security Conference on 8th and 9th October 2007.

The event will include numerous case studies, with speakers from leading banks such as HSBC, Swedbank and Ceská Spořitelna and independent ATM deployers such as Australia’s Customers. Visa and MasterCard will focus on ATM fraud from a card perspective, while the police will update on the important relationship between deployers, vendors and the law enforcement community.

Sec 7 is Europe’s only ATM security conference, and is jointly organised by ATMIA Europe, the region’s only ATM industry association, and Retail Banking Research (RBR), an independent research and consulting firm specialising in ATMs and self-service banking.
