Packard Bell chooses Symantec Security Suites
July 2007

Symantec Corp. has announced that for the eighth year running Packard Bell, European number two in the consumer PC desktop market and number five on the consumer notebook market (IDC. Q1 2007), has renewed its confidence in Symantec by choosing to equip its computers with the latest Symantec Internet security suites. Packard Bell will initially pre-install Norton Internet Security 2007 software on its PC range, representing more than two million computers in Europe and the Far East. OEM versions of Norton 360 will be pre-installed by autumn 2007. This means Packard Bell customers will be able to use the software installed on the system free of charge for three months and subscribe for 12 months after the trial period.

Packard Bell and Symantec Partner to Educate Consumers In an Internet environment where threats develop extremely quickly and are increasingly sophisticated, Packard Bell has chosen to advise its customers about the need to protect their computers and the personal information stored on them through an information website dedicated to PC security developed in partnership with Symantec http://www.packardbell.com/playground/

The website provides Net surfers with news alerts on the latest threats identified by Symantec, a reminder of the golden rules about protecting their computers and personal data, and feature articles of an educational nature to explain current threats. The website also provides Packard Bell with an opportunity to encourage its customers to renew their subscriptions after the trial period, enabling them to continue to have access to the daily updates that protect their computers against Internet threats.

- Norton Internet Security 2007 protects Packard Bell customers against viruses, hackers, spyware and emerging threats thanks to a comprehensive set of security tools, including Norton Antivirus 2007, the most widely-used antivirus solution in the world. Norton Internet Security 2007 also integrates innovative security technology for online transactions. With Norton Internet Security, Packard Bell customers can make purchases on-line and carry out banking operations on the Internet with confidence. The new security function against phishing protects users against identity theft on-line by combining lists of known phishing websites with advanced heuristic technology, which protects users from accessing fraudulent web pages.

- Norton 360 is the new Symantec "all-in-one" consumer security service, integrating the best of Symantec technologies in terms of PC security and optimization, as well as new security functions for on-line transactions and online backup. Designed to operate as automatically as possible, Norton 360 provides extensive protection while carrying out background tasks without hindering user operations.
