Aruba Networks Inc. announced the Enterprise Analyzer, a new tool that works in conjunction with Aruba’s Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) and wireless access points to troubleshoot Wi-Fi network problems and detect, identify and classify unauthorized devices, sources of radio interference, and radio jammers.

In new installations the Enterprise Analyzer can help plan around sources of interference, while in existing networks the tool can help ensure that the Wi-Fi spectrum is available for its intended purpose. Uniquely, the Enterprise Analyzer can use existing Aruba access points to capture packets, report over-the-air voice quality-of-service (QoS), and detect congested channels. Spectrum analysis is provided via specialized sensors. The tool was developed in partnership with AirMagnet, a specialist in wireless network assurance solutions, and is available for shipping now.

The spectrum analyzer’s sensors leverage AirMagnet technology to capture signals within the Wi-Fi frequency range regardless of the source of origin, i.e., Bluetooth and Zigbee devices, microwave ovens, legacy frequency-hoppers, and even rogue access points operating at non-standard frequencies. Aruba’s ARM technology will then adjust the wireless LAN radio channels to avoid the sources of interference. The net result is a wireless network that operates with maximum efficiency. The Enterprise Analyzer’s user interface provides a graphical display of the radio spectrum and locationing information, helpful features for visualizing the status of the air.
