With organizations around the globe required to adhere to a range of regulations and country-specific data privacy laws, as well as protecting confidential and personally identifiable information, the ability to deploy consistent policies across email and web – plus demonstrate how the policy is managed and enforced to prevent data loss – is vital.
MIMEsweeper Email Appliance Version 2.6’s unified console enables central email and web policy management from a single place where Clearswift customers can now create and administer one single policy, applicable to both email and web traffic. Or, if desired, customers can centrally manage different, tailored web and email policies from one console.
The new version of MIMEsweeper Email Appliance also allows organizations to identify and block sensitive data such as credit card numbers, US Social Security Numbers and UK National Insurance Numbers to further strengthen defenses against data losses and meet industry regulations and country specific privacy laws.
In addition, following high demand from customers either rationalizing their datacenters or wanting to deploy on their preferred hardware platforms, Clearswift has launched support for virtual and ‘soft’ appliances. The MIMEsweeper Email Appliance VM5 can now be installed onto a VMWare ESX server and the MIMEsweeper Email Appliance VA5 can be installed onto Clearswift approved hardware platforms such as IBM and HP. These ‘soft’ and virtual appliances can be used in conjunction with physical appliances operating in the same peer group.
MIMEsweeper Email Appliance version 2.6 delivers several new strengthened anti-spam features with a brand new anti-spam engine, improved spam detection, greylisting, and TRUSTmanager™ enhancements.
With version 2.6 of the MIMEsweeper Email Appliance, Clearswift are introducing a brand new anti-spam engine. This new engine uses heuristics analysis to further analyze messages and delivers this new capability to customers via pre-configured managed lists to stop image spam and other forms of spam.
The latest version of TRUSTmanager now returns finer reputation: whereas the email appliance previously had the ability to either Accept or Reject email, version 2.6 provides additional levels of trust, which streamline messages through the system. The four reputation bands are now Good, Neutral, Suspicious and Bad.
Clearswift have also added Greylisting to the battery of anti-spam tools present in the MIMEsweeper Email Appliance and integrated it with the TRUSTmanager reputation service to avoid legitimate email from being delayed.
MIMEsweeper Email Appliance version 2.6 now also has an ‘off-box’ backup and restore capability. The system will support both scheduled and immediate backups of the Appliance to a remote FTP server. This is designed to support recovery following a system failure.
